Gamification – Comprehensive Testing and Validation
To facilitate testing of sponsor-facing tools such as gamification - mobile app views, and giveaway sales, you can create an Organizer profile under the Sponsors section.
This setup provides full access to sponsor tools and ensures an accurate simulation of the sponsor experience. For example, you can “sell” giveaways like coffee or other items that are normally free to attendees. This approach helps encourage participants to attend sessions, engage with booths, and complete surveys during testing.
Testing requirements
There are several requirements that must be met before coins become visible in the mobile app.
Set up Coins
To configure coins:
- Go to Gamification -> Settings.
- Configure the following:
- Coin name
- Currency
- Currency symbol
These settings define how coins are displayed and used trough out the platform.

Add users with Coins
At least three users must be added before coins become visible in the mobile app. This requirement ensures that gamification features display correctly during testing.

Manually Adding Coins
Manually adding coins allows organizers to maintain flexibility and control when testing gamification or rewarding attendee engagement outside of automated gamification rules.
To manually award coins:
- Go to Tickets & Attendees -> Tickets.
- Select one or more attendees.
- Click the Award Coins button.

Define the Award Details:
- Comment
- Number of Coins

Once awarded, all selected attendees will immediately see the coins reflected in their gamification account.
Important note:
Manually awarded coins do not appear in the Managing Coins Earned report, which only displays coins earned through predefined gamification rules. However, these coins are included in each attendee’s Collected Coins and Balance Coins views.
Testing in the Mobile App
When the attendee has enough coins, they can select the checkbox next to a giveaway item in the mobile app. A popup window will appear, and once the user confirms by pressing OK, the corresponding number of coins will be deducted from their balance. This allows organizers to validate the full giveaway redemption flow during testing.

Leaderboard and Coin Balance Behaviour
Keep in mind that leaderboard coins represent the total number of coins earned overall. An attendee’s usable balance, however, reflects only the coins available for redeeming giveaways and similar rewards.
This distinction is important when validating leaderboard ranking versus redemption behaviour.
Deleting Testing Data
Deleting testing data ensures that only real attendee interactions are tracked, keeping reports and gamification results accurate and reliable.
To delete testing coins:
Go to Gamification -> Manage section -> Coins earned

Arrange coins by time, attendee, or other criteria.
Click Delete button next to the coins you want to remove.
